A Letter to the Freshmen

Welcome to Shanghai University of Political science and Law. Here, you are going to start a new and important journey in your life, expanding your horizon, lifting capacity and gaining friendship. We would try our best to create a safe and orderly campus with warm and harmonious atmosphere for you.

Here is the notice for freshman:

1.Registration

3. The place for registration

(1)Students who are currently in China: Yongfu Building 208.

(2)Students who are currently abroad: online

4. The registration documents for freshmen in China

(1)valid passport; (2)admission letter; (3)the highest degree certificate; (4)the highest degree transcript; (5)physical examination record for foreigners; (6)certificate of leaving school; (7)form 201/202; (8)HSK certificate(HSK4 for undergraduate; HSK5 for postgraduate; No requirement for language student); (9)identification photo in electronic version; (10)500 Yuan accommodation pledge(in cash)

5. Process

(1)For students who are currently in China

• The procedure for registration

• Check your valid passport, visa documents etc.

• Claim your student number, the schedule on arrangements for freshmen, handbook etc.

• Pay for your tuition fee, accommodation, insurance.

• Transact your insurance procedures.

• Provide a medical examination report. If you do not have a medical examination, please make an online appointment as soon as possible before reporting for duty

• Pay attention to the update notices after registration and join in the language test for class division.

• The procedure for accommodation

• Sign the accommodation agreement

• Pay 500 Yuan in cash for the pledge

• Take photos

• Claim your room key by <Accommodation registration form> and check in

(2)For students who are currently abroad

• Login in the international students management system of Shanghai University of Political  science and Law, the website is https://shupl.at0086.cn/student

（Note：the original user name is your passport number and the password is 12345678; If you have applied for our university online, the user name and password are those when you registered.）

• Check your valid passport, admission letter etc.

• Claim your student number, the schedule on arrangements for freshmen, handbook etc.

• Transfer your tuition fee according to your admission letter, upload your payment receipt. Please remark your money by your name+tuition ,eg.Alice+tuition***

For the freshmen in China, please make an appointment before registration, and provide a physical examination report at the time of registration. The physical examination fee is about 500 yuan.

3.Residence Permit for freshmen in China

According to The Relevant provisions of The Exit and Entry Administration Law of The People's Republic of China, aliens in China require Stay Permit or apply for Residence Permit under a new cause within 10 natural days after The termination of The Residence Permit/Visa. Original to keep them residence permit or visa in other colleges or universities and to transfer into our university, within 10 natural days after the original school issued the certificate of departure, please apply for the residence permit for study or the corresponding visa with the materials issued by our university to any Exit and Entry Administration Department in Shanghai (the list of required materials shall be provided by our university separately), and the original residence permit shall be cancelled at the same time. If you are unable to register and complete the application within the time specified above, please apply for a stay certificate at the Exit and Entry Administration Department in the place where the original school is located. Please consult the original school or the local Exit and Entry Administration Department for the required materials.

4.Education

1. Timetable:Claim your curriculum schedule by logging in your Academic Teaching Affair Management System

2. Curriculum arrangement: For students who are already in China, you will take class offline according to the class and pandemic prevention requirements. For students currently abroad, you will take class online only.

6.Addition

1. If you cannot do registration on scheduled time, please submit a written statement to International Students Office one week prior to registration (September 15 to September 21). Failure to submit statement and complete registration procedures on time shall be regarded as a waiver of admission..

2. Students who are in China coming to school for registration should show health QR code, a valid negative report on nucleic acid test within 7 days, past 14 days journey on wechat, admission letter, and Shanghai University of Political Science and Law Safety responsibility report for international students, then you are allowed to enter the school.

3. According to relevant regulations, Chinese Government Scholarship and Shanghai Government Scholarship A students’ life expenses are suspended from September 2020 for the students overseas. But if those students timely do online registration and attend online teaching class, the scholarship shall be given after students return to China with good attendance in class. Otherwise, the scholarship shall be cancelled accordingly.

4. If you have some problem to attend online teaching class, please send an email on suspension for one year to iso@shupl.edu.cn,one week prior to registration (September 15 to September 21). For overseas students who win Chinese Government scholarship should submit the Chinese Scholarship Council for approval. After the application being approved, the International Students Office will send an email to inform you.
