Shanghai Trip for international students (Day2) started as early as 8:00am on a sunny day of Sep 23th. Gathered in one bus, our guide explained the schedule of the day as well as told us that students could take a nap on our way and so did I.
Our first stop was Shanghai Museum. The entry in the museum was free and there was a little queue. I with my camera in my hands was prepared to take lots of photos there. After the entry the students were told that we had almost 1 hour to look around the museum.
I started with the gallery where we could have a look at Chinese ceramics. Monochrome porcelains of the Kangxi period with vibrant colors especially attracted most of us. The students could also see different kinds of metal work, pottery, seals, currencies, coins, paper money as well as the wooden Tujia masks for Nuo opera exhibited there. The Kadoorie Gallery Of Chinese Minority Nationalities Arts left an impression like we travelled through the ancient times. Moreover, the gallery gave us a deep insight of distribution of the nationalities in China, their customs, way of life, each ethnic groups’ history and identity.
Our second stop was in a restaurant where we hada chance to taste various Chinese dishes. After that we went to the Old City Of Shanghai, where students could visit the Yuyuan Garden, wonder around, buy souvenirs and taste Chinese food or snacks. The atmosphere in the Old Shanghai somehow enlivened Chinese ancient times and evoked the feelings that were exciting for me. All these inspired me to explore more and more about China, its culture and history.
Our last stop was Nanjing road, where the students could go shopping, walk around or just take photos in front of skyscrapers and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. It was astonishing to see how Old Shanghai merges with the modern buildings, bridges and roads. Shanghai truly is a city where one can feel the hectic pace of contemporary life and sense traditions of older times of China.
In the evening we safely returned to SHUPL. Thanks to the organizers for this trip that created such joyous and unforgettable memories for all of us!
