Practical teaching for international students embodies from in the classroom to out of the classroom, from inside to outside of the school, from concentration to decentralization, throughout the entire process of international students studying in school, and reflects the overall function of interrelated and infiltration of practical teaching and theoretical teaching. The practice teaching system for international students connects the practice teaching links inside and outside the classroom. The practice links are organically combined in a step-by-step manner to ensure the realization of the goal of practice teaching. Through the three combination (that is, the combination of teaching and research, the combination of school and enterprise, the combination of inside and outside class) to optimize the practice teaching system, and then the professional comprehensive quality, innovative spirit and practical ability of the training throughout the entire process of talent training. Through participatory learning, it helps international students to consolidate their professional knowledge, give full play to their language advantages, combine professional theoretical knowledge with practice, and broaden their study experience in China.


The participation form of practical teaching is the combination of centralized practice and decentralized practice, and the combination of individual practice and team practice. Centralized practice is a unified arrangement of practice teaching activities conducted by the School of International Communication and Exchange (International Student Office) under the guidance of the instructor. Decentralized practice is a practice teaching activity conducted by foreign students in the form of participating in scientific research projects, part-time work assistance, pre-job internship, etc. Team practice is collectively organized by the School of International Communication and Exchange  (International Student Office), with more than 10 participants in practical teaching activities. The team activities are mainly supported by social practice bases, etc., according to the project-based operation mode, projects are set up on demand, groups are organized according to items, instructors are provided, and they are organized and carried out in a centralized manner.


According to the requirements of the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law Undergraduate Instructional Teaching Plan, all undergraduate students in the school must complete the required and optional credits in the class while participating in the prescribed practical teaching activities, and at least complete the required credits to graduate. Namely: Undergraduate students must obtain 34 credits for practical teaching before graduation, including 10 credits for graduation thesis and 24 credits for social practice.


The school actively encourages and supports students to participate in various high-level international conferences and various academic exchange activities, and strives to create a strong atmosphere of innovative academic practice. The school actively encourages international students to form academic societies and enhance cultural integration. The School of International Communication and Exchange  has increased capital investment and hardware construction, set up a “Silk Road Lecture”, encouraged international students to form academic societies, regularly organized forums, and taken measures to actively encourage international students to participate in extracurricular subject competitions, etc. Enhanced.


In order to provide international students with an opportunity to go out of campus, understand the development of contemporary China, and experience contemporary Chinese culture, the school regularly organizes various international students to perceive China social practice inspection activities every year.


The school encourages the promotion of learning through competition, and actively organizes international students to participate in various international student competitions organized in Shanghai and nationwide, and has achieved good results in many activities.


The school carefully organizes and designs all kinds of on-campus and off-campus activities, which enriches the campus cultural life of international students and creates an international campus atmosphere. International student badminton competitions, volleyball competitions, table tennis competitions, calligraphy competitions, speech competitions, talent competitions, dormitory cultural festivals and other school competitions have been held successively to enhance friendship and emotion between Chinese and foreign students. In addition, the Silk Road International Cultural Festival and New Year's Party also provide a platform for students to release their passion and show themselves.
