An outbreak of an epidemic disrupted people's lives, and the fight against the epidemic was launched everywhere. Based on the epidemic prevention and control,SHUPL's staff guard the front line of the campus.

Since the outbreak, the management of international students has never stopped. After the school held an epidemic prevention and control work arrangement meeting on January 21, the Party Branch of the School of International Communication and Exchange immediately called on all remaining staff to take action, formulate and continuously improve the work plan, and go all out to implement the work measures to ensure the health of students. In this battle, the staff guarded the homes of international students with responsibilities.

Take multiple measures to solve student worries.

In order to effectively strengthen the epidemic prevention and control work and ensure the safety of the teachers and students in the school, the school adopts lockdown management, and the School of International Communication and Exchange and the Department of Security cooperate to confirm the information of each entry and exit students. The rear insurance department also actively took actions to enrich the school cafeteria and supermarket supplies, and disinfected public areas every day. The dormitory manager test the temperature of the students every night to determine the health status of the students and solved the worries of the students.


Consecutive two letters to international students and to all parents of international students in Chinese, English, and Russian, inform students and parents of the measures and arrangements the school has taken during the epidemic prevention period, so that parents can rest assured that International students are reminded to cooperate with the school to do various epidemic prevention work, strictly abide by school rules and regulations, and ensure health and safety.

Tender care and soothing students' anxiety

Many international students inevitably show anxiety. Because of worrying about students, teachers such as Zhou Yi and Lu Hongmei are stationed on campus almost every day throughout the holiday to keep abreast of the epidemic situation, deal with various emergencies, and remind and answer questions in the studentswechat group. Solving confusion, understanding student needs, and appeasing the anxiety of students. Due to the outbreak, entry policies in many countries have been changed, and flights have been temporarily cancelled, and visa policies in transit countries have been changed. Ms Zhou Yi shared the reminders from the National Migration Administration on the entry control measures of various countries to prevent returning students from stucking at airports or transit points.

Duan Jiabei, an international student counselor, and Tang Ruyang, a part-time head teacher, are still at home, but they also pay close attention to the dynamics of each student outside the school, communicate with students online, ask their health status, promote epidemic prevention knowledge, and do safety tips.

Community manager Ms. Lu Hongmei contacted the international students one by one, accurately got the students' vacation travelling history, and took the initiative to work overtime for many times, leading the managers of dorm in charge of the residence, and organizing international student volunteers to solve the problems for the students. She is familiar with the situation of each international student and sincerely solves the difficulties for the students. The students affectionately call her Mother Lu.

Ms. Zheng Jiqing took responsibility of post tips on the SHUPL wechat public account every day. She collects various epidemic prevention knowledge, important news, and Chinese learning resources every day, and post them daily on the wechat public account of the International Communication and Exchange, helping students to understand the epidemic situation and continuously improve their enthusiasm for learning.

In order to ensure the effective operation of the teaching plan for international students during the epidemic prevention and control period, and to effectively implement the “class no stop”, the teaching secretary Ms. Cheng Qi combed the curriculum arrangements and teaching resources for the spring semester, and actively coordinated the various teaching units and related teachers. Repeated communication regarding the online teaching process, course arrangement and online teaching management, listening to feedback from international students, making full use of high-quality online course resources, preparing for the upcoming online teaching, and ensuring teaching progress during epidemic prevention and control and teaching quality.

In this epidemic without gunpowder, each staff worked silently in his/her post. This special Spring Festival holiday also brought the teachers and students of the School of International Communication and Exchange closer to each other, holding hands tighter. We believe everyone will work together to win this epidemic!
